Info minister launches Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s Urs

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Labour and Transport Syed Nasir Hussain Shah Tuesday formally inaugurated the three-day 1287th Urs of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi on behalf of Sindh Governor. He laid a floral wreath on the saint’s Mazar and offered Fateha.

Sindh Auqaf Secretary Riaz Hussain Soomro welcomed the minister on his arrival while Sukkur Municipal Committee Administrator Syed Kumail Haider Shah, Auqaf Sindh Chief Administrator Mushtaq Soomro, Auqaf Karachi Administrator Zahid Shar, Ahmed Ali Unar, Manager Mohammad Shah Ghazi Mazar Clifton and others were also present.

The minister paid rich tribute to the saint as saying Sindh is the land of Sufis and holy men, who preached and spread the message of love, peace, harmony and brotherhood among human beings.

He said: “Millions of devotees are visiting and paying homage to them regularly throughout the country. Government is committed to ensure protection to all visiting devotees and others by installing walkthrough gates, CCTV cameras and security guards to protect all visiting devotees during Urs celebrations.

“The government is also ensuring provision of Langar (free food) and water to devotees during the Urs.” He further said that to provide maximum facilities to the devotees, and aware the message of such saints and holy men, a research centre would be established at the Mazar. He said that steps had been taken for the protection of such holy places, mosques and worship places etc. Development projects are also underway at various places. Mehfil Sama and Qawali would also be held during Urs.

Secretary Auqaf Sindh and Chief Administrator briefed the minister about various steps of arrangements made for the protection of people, future projects at Mazar etc. They presented the Sindhi caps and Ajrak to him.
