JI urges UN, OIC, Turkey to stop Muslims’ genocide in Myanmar

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has strongly condemned the violence against the Muslims in Burma/ Myanmar and their forced eviction by the Burmese army and called upon the United Nations Secretary General, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and Turkey to take immediate measures to stop the genocide of Muslims.

In separate letters written to heads of United Nations, OIC and Turkish President, Siraj-ul-Haq said that the brutalities being committed against the Myanmar Muslims had reminded one of the genocide of innocent people during the World War two. He said that according to the reports, three thousand Muslims had been murdered while around 90,000 peoples had been forced to flee towards Bangladesh. Many of them were in the sea and others were lying in the open.

In his letter to the UN Secretary General, the JIP Ameer said that the UN should protect the human rights of all the people and it should immediately take suitable measures against the Burmese government so that it stopped the bloodshed of the innocent Muslims.

In his letter to the OIC Secretary General, Sirajul Haq called for immediate meeting of the OIC to announce prompt measures to prevent the killing of thousands of people.

In his letter to Turkish President Recep Tyyep Erdagon, Sirajul Haq urged the Turkish leader to move for uniting the Muslim world in the present situation as the Ummah was suffering because of disunity. Meanwhile, the JI will hold a march from Aab Para Chowk, Islamabad to the Myanmar embassy in the federal capital on September 8, Friday to protest against the genocide of the Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar. Ameer, JI, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, will lead the march.

Meanwhile, the JI Ameer has called upon the Pakistan government to immediately expel the Burmese envoy in the country. He further suggested to the government to prevail upon all Islamic and friendly countries to expel the Burmese ambassador in their countries and also demand the Myanmar government to stop the massacre and the forced eviction of the Rohingya Muslims. He wondered why the OIC, the UN and world community were silent over the genocide of the Rohingyas.

Sirajul Haq said that Pakistan was the centre of the hope of the Muslims all over the world and it should take prompt steps to stop for the worst form of cruelties against the Muslims in Myanmar/ Burma and extend every possible help to them.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat e Islami’s member of the parliament have moved adjournment motions and call attention notices in the Senate and the National Assembly for debate of the massacre of the Rohingya Muslims. The JI Senator Sirajul Haq and MNAs Sahibzada Tariqullah, Sahibada Mohammad Yaqub, Sher Akbar Khan and Mohtarma Aisha Syed, have demanded that the Foreign Minister should apprise the parliament of the measures being taken by the Pakistan government to stop the bloodshed of the Myanmar Muslims.
