Orientation on Strengthen capacity for Sales Tax on Services collection

QUETTA: Strengthen the capacity for Sales Tax on Services collection, and to improve accountability in Public Financial Management and Public Service Delivery in the Education and Irrigation Sectors in Balochistan is main objective of Governance Policy Project (GPP).

This was stated by Mahfooz Ali Khan Coordination and the Financial Management Specialist of GPP Dawran Baseer in an orientation to “Governance and Policy Project” given to Secretary Planning and Development Taseer Jamal Alizai.

They said that Increase transparency and effectiveness in public resource management The Projects aim to strengthen upstream (planning & financial) and downstream (service delivery) government systems.

The logical frame work of the project appraisal document was shared and the secretary planning and Development was told about the bifurcation of the funded provided through this project.

They also informed about the project focus on improving and strengthening the monitoring and evaluation mechanism of the GoB through Monitoring and Evaluation Frame work and the geo tagging/mapping of the ongoing project. The information about other targeted institutes and the activities done with Ombudsman Secretariat, Anti Corruption Establishment and BPPRA was disseminated to the secretary planning.

It was made sure that another orientation session will be arranged for the secretary planning where the ICT Specialist will present the upgraded web portal and the dash board of the project.

The Secretary Planning appreciated the work done through the project staff and showed his keen interest in the finalization of the pending tasks on the behalf of P&DD Balochistan.

He also appreciated the efforts done by the Project Staff so far and shared his concerns/optimism for the obvious governance reforms the project will focus through Revenue Generation and Strengthening of the Public Investment Management through GPP.
