SHC seeks progress report from LEAs about missing persons

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday sought progress report from law enforcement agencies (LEAs) about Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) missing workers in two weeks.

A two-member bench, headed by Justice Naimatullah Phulpoto, was apprised by police that steps were being taken for recovery of MQM-P missing workers including Fahim Riaz, Farooq, Zeeshan, Usman, Saeed, Asif and others.

The law enforcement agencies’ official informed the court that a letter has also been written to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Government, while NADRA’s help was also being sought to obtain criminal record of the missing persons, if any.

The court was hearing a petition filed by MQM-P chief Dr Farooq Sattar who had pleaded the court to direct the law enforcement agencies to recover their ‘missing workers’.

The petitioner through his counsel submitted that Fahim Riaz, Farooq, Zeshan, Usman, Saeed, Asif and others workers have been missing since 2013 and their whereabouts are still unknown.
