Universities asked to improve ethical standards among students

KARACHI: Associate Dean, Business Administration & Social Sciences Faculty, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi Dr. Shujaat Mubarak asked the faculty members to produce youths having good moral values for the society besides providing good business managers to job market.

“At the time of joining an organization by students on completion of their education, they must be recognized as honest, dedicated, responsible and dutiful worker to bring a good name to their educational institution,” he said presiding over Board of Faculty meeting at the university campus which was attended by heads of departments, senior faculty members and external expert.

During the meeting, the proposals for the overall improvement in existing academic program were discussed at length and some recommendations were approved for the consideration of academic council.

Dr Shujaat Mubarak said that in the race of present materialism, most of the youths after taking their bachelors or masters degrees prefers to teach on top or earn a big wealth in shortest possible time by ignoring all moral values. He said: “It is the responsibility of our teachers that during providing education to the student, their ethical standard be also improved.

He said that by providing useful people having good moral values by our universities, we may build a better society which may help us to discourage to speak lie, dishonesty, corruption, greed, cheating and other evils among the peoples.” During the meeting the matters related to develop effective link between industry and academia, to provide Carrier .

Counseling facility to students, encouraging good research work, establishing a business development centre, providing internship facility to students and overall review of existing degrees programs were discussed and recommended various proposals for the approval of academic council. Those who attended the meeting included Dr Shafiqur Rehman, Dr Azizur Rehman Saifee, Dr. Shahid Hussain, Dr. Syed M. Noman, Syed Hasnain Alam Kazmi, Asif Naji, Arsalan larak and Mohammad Ali Shaikh.
