IGP orders extraordinary security for Shab-e-Baraat

KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh AD Khowaja on Sunday directed officials to ensure extraordinary security and traffic measures on the eve of Shab-e-Baraat to be observed on 30 April.

Khowaja directed that legal action should be taken against people involved in manufacturing and selling fireworks on the eve of Shab-e-Baraat. He issued instructions to eliminate possible encroachments from main graveyards and shrines at provincial level. He said that monitoring of traffic flow and vehicle parking should be made effective with joint strategy. He said that police departments should be deployed in sensitive places, while patrolling, snap checking, and intelligence collection should be made effective at police station level.

Khowaja also directed officials that report of every moment be provided through wireless. He said that all the SHOs and section officers will ensure the overall security and traffic measures.
