Pakistan day Canoeing, kayaking and rowing championship held to mark

QUETTA: Two days All Balochistan Pakistan Day Canoe / Kayak and Rowing Championship 2012 was held under the auspices of the Pakistan Canoe and Kayak Federation PCKF organised by the Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy Hanna Lake Quetta HDWSA and the Balochistan Canoeing / Kayaking and Rowing Associations to mark Pakistan Day ceremonies in befitting manners

More than 50 boys , girls youth and seniors kayak paddlers and rowers participated in the competition. HDWSA took 1st place followed by Pakistan Customs Quetta in 2nd Quetta City Canoe Club 3rd , Chiltan Adventurers Canoe team 4th and Loralai Canoe Club which took 5th place in the Championship. All facilities i.e. Canoe , Kayak and Rowing racing Boats, Paddles , life saving jackets, Motor Boats for Umpires , Judges and rescue was provided free of cost to the participants by HDWSA in the largest National Interest and for the promotion of water sports in the country.

Earlier Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy HDWSA Hanna Lake Quetta had organized one week Pakistan day Rowing, Canoeing and Kayaking training Camp for the participants of Championship.

Secretary General PCKF, Hayatullah Khan Durrani pride of Performance said on the eve of prize distribution “the level of our youth is increasing because we have a project for young canoeists and we have very good talented canoe and kayak paddlers for our future. Pakistan Canoe and Kayak Federation provides training facilities at its grassroots programme, hence the junior Kayak paddlers of HDWSA Balochistan are the best in Pakistan.”

Durrani thanked the Iranian canoeing , rowing and Sailing Federation Islamic republic of Iran for donations of 12 Kayak and Canoe flat water racing boats for the development and promotion of Olympic Canoe / Kayak Sprint Racing Sports in Pakistan.

He said the girl’s participation was also highly commended the federation now is to make available its best facilities to the girls so that they can be coached properly. It was pointed out that the federation has many female members and they have taken a keen interest in kayaking sports. The Canoeing sport is evidently proving popular because the girls have a good level of kayaking skills and it is deemed to be a suitable and attractive sport for girls in Pakistan.

He described the promotion and the development of canoeing and kayaking in Pakistan. He also took the opportunity to inform the respectable guests about the ICF’s Technical Chie assistance for development of canoeing and kayaking in Pakistan.

While chief guest Shah Nawaz Khan Marri Provincial minister Sports and Culture and guest of honour Provincial Minister Ms Rahila Hameed Durrani appreciated the role of organizing committee for holding of the successful championship on the eve of Pakistan day the ensure their full support for the promotion of Canoe and kayak sports in Pakistan specially in Balochistan. and other respectable guests about the assistance and cooperation of Csaba Szanto technical chief of International Canoe Federation for development of canoeing and kayaking in Pakistan.

RESULTS: Mohammad Abubakar Durrani was awarded best kayak paddler of the championship by winning two gold medals. Other results are,

K1 Boys’ Under14 200 Meter Race Mohammad Umar Durrani.1st Position, Basharat Khan Khilji 2nd Position, Agha Mohammad Furqan Shah 3rd Position.

K1 Boys Under 18 200 Meter Race Mohammad Abubakar Durrani 1st Position, Kalimullah Durrani 2nd Position, Mohammad Ashique Mandokhail 3rd Position.

K1 Men’s Open 200 Meter Race Mohammad Abubakar Durrani 1st, Position, Farhanullah Khan Kakar 2nd Position, Mohammad Asif Khan 3rd Position.

K1 Men’s Open 500 Meter Race – Shahjahan Tareen 1st Position, Mohammad Naseem 2nd Position, Noorullah Kakar 3rd Position.

K2 Men’s Open 500 Meter Race:

Mohammad Yousaf and Ziaud Din Kasi 1st Position, Mohammad Fazal Kakar and Zafar Khan Khilji, 2nd Position, Izatulla Kakar and Mohizurrehman Kakar 3rd Position,

K1 Girls’ Open 200 Meter Race Miss Amina Khan Tareen1st Position, Miss Bakhthawar Khan 2nd Position, Miss Fathima Tareen 3rd Position.

Rowing single scull Boys Open 800 Meter Race. Mohammad Shoaib Khilji 1st, Nasibullah Sadozai 2nd Mohammad Usman Khilji 3rd Position.
