Excise police foiled attempt to smuggle a large number of arms into Karachi
Karachi, November 30, 2016 (PPI-OT): Excise Police Sukkur have foiled an attempt of drugs and arms smugglers to bring large number of arms and ammunition into Karachi. It is to mention here that on the directives of Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawlaa drive against drugs is going on across the province and the launch enabled the Excise and Taxation Department Sukkur to catch a big quantity of charas and arms and ammunition as well. According to details a team of E and T department Sukkur under IO Jam Ameer Ali Dahar,on a tip, at Sindh-Punjab check post Kamboo Shaheed, spotted a truck bearing no LEI 9595 and during the search recovered 30 kilogram charas, 16 rifles, 82 pistols, 10 magazines and 21500 live rounds of the rifles. However the accused, taking the advantage of the darkness,managed to escape.
Excise police have seized the drugs and arms /ammunition and impounded the truck as well. A case has been lodged and the investigations are underway. Meanwhile the minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla,while declaring the raid a big success of the E and T department,has announced to award appreciation certificates to the team.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday,he said that the caught arms and ammunition might be used in any terrorist activity and the E and T department had saved the people from a big trouble. He directed the officers posted at Sindh-Punjab or Sindh-Balochistan borders to increase vigilance and to foil all attempts of anti-social and anti-state elements to bring drugs or ammunition into Sindh province.
