(Tennis): Nepalese Abhilasha denies all-Russian final line-up in ITF tournament in Islamabad

KARACHI:,,, Nepalese Abhilasha Bista denied all-Russian final line-up in girls singles even after she overcame Russian player Ekaterina Suvorova in a neck and neck battle in General Tyre ITF J5 Junior Tennis Championships at the PTF Complex in Islamabad on Friday.

After tough first round battle, Abhilasha Bista win the game by 7-6(5) score to take lead in the semifinal clash. But she dropped the second set 2-6 as Ekaterina played brilliantly to level arrears.

However, Abhilasha gathered herself in the third and final round and won it by 6-3 score and a place in the climax.

She will now face another Russian player Arina Valitova, who blanked local opponent Zoha Asim by 6-0, 6-0 score to confirm her place in the final.

In boy’s singles semifinals, Muhammad Shoaib made it sure to keep local interest alive after beating British player Roy Keegan easily by 6-2, 6-1 score.

He will face Rohan Belday of USA, whi defeated Hamid Israr by 6-3, 6-2 score.
