11 killed, 18 injured as three vehicles collide near Nawabshah

NAWABSHAH: At least 11 people, including women and children, were killed and 18 others injured when a fast-moving coach hit a van and a car on National Highway near Nawabshah on Friday.

The van carrying passengers was on its way to Nawabshah from Bandhi town when it was hit by the coach going to Mansehra from Karachi. As a result, 11 people travelling in the van, including its driver Karim Bux, were killed and 20 others injured.

Three persons of a family who died in the accident belonged to Bandhi town, who were identified as Kiran Gujjar, 12, and Rashid Ali Gujjar, 15. Other injured include Shazia, Zainab and Baddar.

The bodies and the injured were shifted to Peoples Medical University Hospital Nawabshah for medico-legal formalities and treatment, respectively. The condition of five injured was stated to be critical.

The local administration visited the hospital and issued directives for better treatment of the injured, while local people rushed to the hospital and donated blood to the injured. Sorrowful atmosphere was prevalent at the hospital. The police have arrested the coach driver.
