32 more dengue cases detected in Karachi


KARACHI: As many as 32 more dengue fever cases were reported in Karachi in a week, taking the patients toll to 1,890 in the city since 1st January 2016.

According to the weekly report issued by Prevention and Control Program for Dengue in Sindh, as many as 43 new dengue fever cases surfaced in Sindh province from December 02 to December 08, 2016 out of which 32 were reported in Karachi, six in Hyderabad, and five in Mithi or Tharparkar.

In Karachi, out of the 32 dengue fever cases, seven were reported from District Central, six from District South, four from District West, 11 from District East, two from District Korangi and two from District Malir.

In 2016, a total of 2,329 dengue fever cases were reported in Sindh province since 1st January 2016, out of which 1,890 were detected from Karachi, 245 from Mithi or Tharparkar, 124 from Hyderabad, 12 from Sukkur, eight from Tando Mohammad Khan, seven each from Ghotki, six from Larkana, five each from Mirpurkhas & Khairpur, four each from Naushero Feroz, Umer Kot & Shikarpur, three each from Thatta, Dadu & Shaheed Benazirabad, two each from Badin, Jamshoro and Sanghar.

A total of three deaths were reported from dengue fever in the province so far out of which two from Karachi and one from Shaheed Benazirabad, while another death caused by dengue fever in the city could not be confirmed by health officials.
