Abbasi Shaheed Hospital faces water shortage since five days

KARACHI: Abbasi Shaheed Hospital(ASH)Karachi has been facing acute water shortage since five days, putting the administration in trouble in handling surgery cases as well as compelling patients and their attendants to face hardships, sources at ASH told PPI on Saturday.

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s major healthcare, ASH, has been facing water shortage due to replacement of old water supply lines by the department concerned; therefore, the water supply to this health facility had badly been affected since five days.

The patients and their attendants have been deprived of the clean drinking water, while the sanitation system of hospital has also been badly affected. The severe water shortage has increased the miseries of patients, doctors, nurses, paramedics and other staff. The cleanliness and other routine work has also been affected.

Abbasi Shaheed Hospital’s Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Anwer told PPI that Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) had replaced the old water supply lines but did not provide new connection to the hospital yet.

He said KWSB had been providing tankers to run hospital affair but situation had not improved yet. He said the water shortage had compelled the management to postpone scheduled surgeries.
