Ailing mother of Aafia awaits Imran’s call


KARACHI:The aged and ailing mother of noted Pakistan woman scientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui, Asmat Siddiqui, has been anxiously waiting for a phone call from Prime Minster Imran Khan to hear some good news about an early return of her imprisoned daughter.

A press release of Aafia Movement Pakistan here Wednesday said the illness of Asmat Siddiqui is getting a wore turn and whole nation is appealed to pray for her, and also to pray for early release and return of Dr Aafia Siddiqui from a US prison.

Asmat Siddiqui, who misses her daughter, has also written a letter to Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan and requested him to call her. She has also wished to meet the Prime Minister. Reposing confidence in the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Asmat Siddiqui has hoped that he would fulfill his promise of bringing Aafia Siddiqui back home.

She has expressed concern that during last six months the Pakistani Consul General in the US has not paid a visit to the jail where Dr Aafia Siddiqui has been languishing. She said the consoler general has also not called on Dr Aafia and neither shared the report of their previous meeting with Aafia to the family.

These sad developments have also cast a negative effect on the health of Asmat Siddiqui, the release concluded.
