AKWTI reveals facts behind ‘deliberate water crisis’ in Karachi

KARACHI: Water crisis has deliberately been created by Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) officials in a bid to mint money. This was revealed by All Karachi Water Tanker Ittehad (AKWTI) President Mohammad Tariq Sadozai while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club on Saturday.

Sadozai said that the government officials were involved in making profits in the name of deliberate water crisis. Sadozai blamed KWBS Managing Director for his involvement in the water crisis in Karachi. He claimed that MD is behind the false propaganda of water crisis. KWSB MD is responsible for false water crisis in the city, he blamed.

Sadozai further claimed: “We are not tankers mafia and are not doing any business but hydrants and their contractors are actual mafia. AKWTI president requested the Sindh government to intervene into the serious issue in order to provide water to Karachiites.

He said: “This problem can be easily resolved by handing over the management of the hydrants to Rangers. We have written letters to the prime minister, the chief of the army staff and the Rangers asking them to look into this matter. We got a positive response from Rangers, who assured to help us. But we are still waiting for that to happen.”

The association’s chairperson, Sharif Baloch demanded abolishment of the contractor system and launching of an investigation against the corrupt contractors and officials of water board. The chairperson threatened of dire consequences if the government fails to meet their demands. Other members of AKWTI, Iftikhar Abbasi, Younas Khan, Riaz and Arshad were also present on this occasion.
