KARACHI: Over 41 teachers, who were arrested yesterday for holding a protest, have been released in the wee hours of Tuesday after Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari took notice of the issue.
The protesting teachers from all over Sindh were proceeding to Sindh Chief Minister House for their jobs regularization when they were baton-charged and arrested.
Expressed concern over the arrest and baton-charging, Bilawal flayed the police brutality as saying police had no right to beat up peaceful protesters. Protesting peacefully is the democratic right of every citizen, he said.
He said the Sindh police had been acting a bit too independently than required.
