All set for ‘Science Day’ at KU


KARACHI: A “Science Day” will be observed at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), University of Karachi (UoK), on Friday (Sep. 22) in connection with the 75th birthday of internationally renowned Pakistani scientist Prof Atta-ur-Rahman.

The science day will start from 04:30 pm to 08:30pm at ICCBS – University of Karachi. A senior official of the ICCBS said that the science day will begin with the science lecture of Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, former Federal Minister for Science & Technology and ex-Chairman Higher Education Commission Pakistan, at 04:30pm in Prof. Salimuzzaman Siddiqui Auditorium, ICCBS, he said, adding that before the lecture, Director ICCBS-UoK Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudhary will also give an introductory lecture, highlighting the achievements of Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman in the field of science and technology.

He said that the second part of the science day will be held in the lawns of Prof Atta-ur-Rahman Laboratories, ICCBS, UoK, that will include science poster exhibition and stalls to be setup with different names including Dice Project, Regeneration Center, EUREKA (Celebrating Discovery and Invention) Microbiology, Pakistan Biotechnology Information Center (PABIC), Biotechnology Wing ICCBS, Molecular View of Life, Genome Center, Gene Knockout, Books of Prof. Atta-ur-Rahman, Robotics/ workshop and Science is Fun.

Leading scientists, educationists, teachers, staff and students will be attending the science event, he said.
