KARACHI: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of human lives and properties during heavy rains in Lahore and asked government to come to the rescue of the affected people immediately to avert worst disaster.
In a statement, the PPP chairman said that the developing crisis could only be faced through war-footing rescue and relief arrangements adding that it is time for all of us to stop comparing our cities with Paris and New York and adopt a holistic approach to save our cities and hinterlands during natural crisis and disasters.
He expressed sympathies with the families of victims who lost lives during the rain-related incidents and urged the caretaker government to provide emergency medical help to the affectees and injured. He said there was urgent need to drain away the stagnant water from Lahore roads and streets without any delay. The PPP chairman said that much-advertised development of Shahbaz Sharif is visible nowhere and people of entire Pakistan are witnessing the horrendous exposure of his hollow claims.
