CHK admin shut MRI machine

KARACHI: Dr Ruth Pfau, Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) has closed Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine and some other equipment following a fault in their air-conditioning plant, sources at CHK told PPI on Wednesday.

The CHK management has temporarily closed the MRI and others equipment two days ago as air-conditioners were not working due to some technical problem.

The administration was unable to maintain temperature in the Radiology Department, owing to the technical fault in AC plant, costly equipment were shut down to avoid damage.

The patients with psychological and neurological diseases and bones problems have been referred to private laboratories for last two days.

The sources said dozens of visiting and admitted patient are tested for MRI after complaints of problems in brain, spinal cord, and bones every day free of charge but due to the faults, majority of these patients is compelled to pay heavy fees for tests conducted by some private hospitals in the city.

Addition Medical Superintendent, CHK, Dr Arif Niaz, was not available for comment.
