KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi, Aijaz Ahmed Khan inaugurated a polio vaccination campaign by administering polio drops to children at Chanesar Goth area of the metropolis on Monday.
The anti-polio drive in city will continue till January 28, said a press release issued here.
Around 2200,000 children would be administered polio drops, and 9000 teams have been formed for the purpose. Special police and rangers teams would provide security to the polio teams.
On this occasion, Commissioner said that all-out efforts have been taken to ensure elimination of polio from Karachi. He appealed the parents to cooperate with the government in the anti-polio drive.
The Commissioner added that the help of scholars, religious leaders, cricketers and prominent personalities have already been sought for bringing awareness among masses about polio vaccination.
On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Afzal Zaidi, coordinator polio task force Dr. Nusrat Ali, officials of Health department and other healthcare representatives were present.
