´╗┐Commissioner urges measures to tackle heat weave

KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Ejaz Ahmed Khan on Saturday chaired a meeting regarding expected heat wave, its impact and precautionary measures to avoid casualties here at his office.

The meeting was attained by Additional Commissioner Karachi, all deputy commissioners, assistant commissioners, director health, officials of water and sewerage board, Medical Superintendent JPMC and CHK, and officials of rescue sources.

Commissioner directed all deputy commissioners to take measures to avoid casualties during the expected heat wave in Karachi. It is our responsibility to make efforts to save people from the likely heat wave which had claimed lot of lives in 2015, he said. He said that health facilities available in the city and other districts must be equipped with necessary gadgets and medicines. There is dire need to publicize the precautionary measures to enable the people to adopt necessary measures to protect themselves from heat and handle the emergency situation.

The commissioner was briefed about the first response centers, tertiary care centers, relief centers and installation of drinking water colors in different area of the city. Many response centers have also been established with first aid facilities and ambulances to transport affected people to hospitals in a minimum time told in the meeting.
