KARACHI:Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah has asked the Secretary Local Government and Commissioner Hyderabad to look into the affairs of WASA (Water and Sanitation Authority) and submit a report with specific reference of WASA’s dues over the clients including government departments.
He also advised the Secretary Finance to review the budgeting of WASA, remove the bottlenecks of payment thereof in collaboration with the Secretary Local Government.
The Chief Secretary also asked the officials to submit reports to this effect within three days.
Moreover, the Sindh Secretary maintained that the supply of clean water must be ensured to all people, throughout the provinces. He categorically noted that waterborne diseases should be prevented and the divisional and district managements in association with the health department must arrange treatment of such people who have fallen ill due the use of polluted water.
Earlier, in a presentation it was briefed that WASA is facing e problems in paying salaries and pensions and carrying out works for development and M and R due to nonpayment of dues.
