Demo against millers for not paying 3-year dues

NAUNDERO:Sugarcane growers accompanied by members of civil society, political and non-political activists, continued their protest for the 23rd consecutive day outside the main entrance of Naundero Sugar Mill here on Monday, demanding payment of outstanding dues of 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons.

The growers held recitation of Holy Quran at their protest camp which was performed by the Talibs of a madressah. While talking to reporters, the tillers said that since last 23 days, they were here even in rains and had also faced sizzling cold but the Naundero sugar mill and Sindh government authorities had constantly ignored them.

They said mill had earned millions of rupees out of their cane, but it was not ready to clear our dues since last three years. Growers Ghulam Qadir Shah, Ali Gul Abro, Hayat Brohi, Nazir Jamali and civil society members Sahab Khan Shaikh, Akbar Mangrio, Ghulam Hyder Narejo, Maulana Qudoos Panhwar and others said: “”If their dues are not cleared before 4th April, they would be constrained to stage sit-in on all entry points of this town and block roads.

They demanded of authorities concerned to help press the millers so that they pay their dues as soon possible.
