NAUNDERO: Irrigation Department Larkana has issued notices to the dwellers of areas along Dadu Canal, Ghar Wah and other canals on Tuesday to vacate their homes constructed inside embankments within 10 days or else they will be demolished, PPI learnt Tuesday.
The notices were issued on the direction of Sindh High Court Sukkur bench. The dwellers of various villages, including Phulpota, Munshi Khuda Bux Phulpoto, Sabul Junejo, Khan Shaikh, Dahani and others, took out a rally here today against removal of their houses.
The protesters, including Hafiz Barkat Kertio, Mumtaz Chahwan, Fakhruddin Samejo, Nadir Lashari, Mithal Shaikh, Oshaque Shaikh, Mureed Narejo, Naeem Buriro and Najeeb Katpar were holding banners and placards in their hands and were shouting slogans to save their homes.
While talking to media persons, the protesters claimed: “We are living here since their elders and depriving them of their houses will not only be injustice, but it will be against the slogan of the PPP government to provide homes.”
They said people are already passing miserable life much below the poverty line and displacing them will add to their miseries and sufferings. They appealed to the Chief Justices of Sindh High Court, Supreme Court and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to take notice of the issue and save them from being homeless in this massive price hike era and warned that if nothing was done, then they would be forced to commit suicides.
