LAHORE: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday released a preliminary polling scheme for NA-133 by-polls to be held in Lahore on December 5.
According to details, there were 400,485 voters, out of which 206,927 voters were female and 233,558 voters male, in NA-133 that fell vacant on October 11 due to PML-N Lahore president Pervaiz Malik’s demise. According to the ECP, 254 polling stations would be established for NA-133 by-polls, out of which 100 would be for male and 100 for female voters, while 54 combined polling stations would serve both males and female voters.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to field Shaista Pervaiz Malik for the NA-133 by-election to be held on December 5. Shaista is an MNA on a reserved seat for women. The NA-133 seat fell vacant after the death of her husband and PML-N leader Pervaiz Malik, who had defeated PTI leader Ejaz Chaudhry in the 2018 general election with a margin of some 12,000 votes.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the date for the by-election on this seat on December 5. “No government or authority shall post or transfer any official in the district where the schedule for by-election in NA-133 is announced till the publication of name of returned candidate. No government functionary or elected representative including a local government functionary shall announce any development scheme for the constituency where election is under process till December 5,” the ECP notification had earlier stated.
