Energy crisis harming national economy, says Baloch

Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that according to according to a careful estimate, the national economy had incurred losses of more than one hundred billion dollars because of the energy crisis but the government was trying to mislead the nation by giving out fictitious figures.

Speaking at a high level party meeting at Mansoora, he said that the energy experts had been repeatedly drawing the government’s attention to the energy crisis but the kitchen cabinet and the decision makers ignored their warnings and even tried to silence them.

Liaqat Baloch wondered on whom the Prime Minister was annoyed for the worst load shedding as he himself was to be blamed for the situation.

He questioned on what basis, the announcements of end of load shedding were being made at the public meetings, and who was providing the false figures.

The JI central leader said that hundreds of thousands of workers had been rendered jobless because of the persisting energy crisis and a vast majority of them were the sole bread winners of their families.

He further said that unemployment had resulted in increase in crime, intolerance besides immoral activities and even facilitated terrorism.

Later, while addressing a JI meeting in connection with the possible verdict of the Panama leaks case, Liaqat Baloch said that the court judgment would determine the future of the country.

JI deputy chiefs Asadullah Bhutto, Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, JI deputy Secretary General Azhar Iqbal Hasan, JI Information Secretary Amirul Azeem and JI Youth President Zubair Gondal, were present at the meeting.

Liaqat Baloch said that on one hand, talented young men with degrees in their hands were searching for jobs but in vain while on the other hand, the kith and kin of the ruling junta were holding high government positions without any merit.

He further said that the slaves of the British in the bureaucracy were obstructing the holding of the Superior Services examination in Urdu.
