KARACHI: Five alleged militants affiliated with Lyari gang war were killed during in encounter with rangers, who were conducting targeted operation in Lyari’s Ali Mohammad Mohalla of the metropolis in the wee hours of Wednesday.
According to Rangers spokesperson Major Qambar Raza, on Tuesday night, a ranger’s vehicle on routine patrol had come under a grenade attack in which one rangers cop, Fawad was martyred while three others, Mohammad Bota, Saifullah and Abdulrab were injured and one suspected terrorist, Amir Ali also killed in the attack.
Following the attack, the paramilitary force conducting a targeted operation in the area during operation gang war militants opened fire on rangers. In an exchange of fire for some time, four alleged terrorists killed on the spot. They were identified as Chakar Ali, Meher Ali, Amir Ali alias Amir Panday and Umair Ali.
The paramilitary forces also claimed to have recovered three Awan bombs, four Kalashnikovs, two hand grenades, 9mm pistols and magazines from the spot.
The bodies were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.
