Former DG KDA bail plea: SHC forwards matter to Chief Justice

KARACHI:Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday, on the request of counsels, forwarded the bail plea matter of former Director General (DG) of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) to Chief Justice of SHC Ahmed Ali Shaikh.

A two-member bench of the SHC, headed by justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro, heard the bail plea of former DG KDA Nasir Abbas and forwarded the bail plea matter to SHC chief justice.

The bench also expressed annoyance at another accused Suleman Ismail for his absence in previous hearing. “Give apology in written; otherwise, we will reject your interim bail,” the bench directed the accused.

NAB had filed references against former director general of KDA over charges of illegal allotment of government plots and illegally commercializing residential plots.

The NAB investigation officer told the court that the bureau had evidence against Nasir Abbas, adding that accused had commercialized the residential plots while holding the top office of KDA and the related documents bearing his signatures.

The court, later, adjourned the hearing till 16 August.
