IGP, other top officials attend funeral prayer of slain cop

KARACHI:The funeral prayer of a policeman, who was martyred in a firing incident in Hijrat colony, was offered at Police Headquarter Garden in Karachi on Sunday.

The funeral prayer was attended by IGP Sindh Syed Kaleem Imam, Additional IG Karachi Dr Amir Sheikh, Zonal DIGs, senior police officers of Sindh rangers, and a large number of citizens.

On this occasion, the IGP, while expressing condolence with the bereaved family, paid a rich tribute to the martyred cop. The IGP also announced that family members of the constable Jahangir, son of Saleem Khan, will be entitled to all benefits and facilities in accordance with the rules and regulations. He instructed police officials to complete all necessary measures for providing financial aid to the family of slain cop.

He further said morale of Sindh police was high and they were taking on terrorists head-on everywhere across the province. He ordered to increase action against criminals by utilizing all manpower and other recourses.

Last night, unidentified armed men riding a motorbike opened fire on a 30-years-old cop, Jahangir, a resident of Dehli colony, in Hijrat colony. As a result, he suffered severe bullet injuries and died on the spot.
