IGP Sindh call on Provincial Ombudsman


KARACHI: IGP Sindh AD Khuwaja called on Provincial Ombudsman Sindh Asad Ashraf Malik at the Ombudsman Secretariat here Monday. He remained with the Ombudsman for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest. Ombudsman Sindh congratulated him on being appointed as IGP and said that he had high hopes from him to transform Sindh Police.

The Provincial Ombudsman pointed out towards some instances of non-compliance of summons and warrants issued from the Ombudsman Secretariat in connection with public complaints and said: “This could harm the objective and spirit of the endeavours of the Ombudsman office for providing legal and logical relief to the general public”.

The IGP assured the Ombudsman Sindh that strict directives would be circulated among the police officers to ensure compliance with the directives from the Ombudsman office. The Ombudsman also asked to ensure compliance with already decided complaints pending implementation at various levels in Police Department.

Asad Ashraf Malik also discussed in details about streamlining of traffic system in Karachi in the light of feedback from the people from different walks of life. He said efforts were being made for betterment of traffic system but there was more need to be done for a viable traffic system in the city. IGP informed that recruitment of extra dedicated manpower in traffic branch was also being done on urgent basis for improving traffic system
