KARACHI:Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday paid tribute to philanthropist Pakistanis for donating Rs 10 billion to Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam project.
In a Tweet today, Khan said: “I pay tribute to the missing generosity of Pakistanis for paying Rs 10 billion donations to the dam fund.” The Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund was established in July 2018 when the Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar initiated a worldwide donation drive for the construction of the dam.
So far Rs 10,007,009,978 has been donated for the dam. When former chief justice Saqib Nisar was in the office, the donations has got momentum, however, their pace had now slowed. The donation call came in view of water shortage in Pakistan that is affecting agriculture sector as well as citizens in Karachi and several other cities.
