It is my responsibility to provide speedy justice: CJP

KARACHI: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Saturday said that it was their (judiciary) esponsibility to provide speedy justice to the common man.

Addressing third judicial conference at a local hotel here, the CJP said that he often received complaints regarding undue delay in the cases, saying that the judges have to look hundreds of cases on daily basis. “A judge has got six-hour to hear hundreds of cases and few minutes for a case. The judges cannot be blamed for delay in disposal of the cases as they have so much work to do,” he added.

Justice Nisar said, “The situation would not be changed, if a case disposes off in two-minute as there were so many pending cases. The judiciary lacked modern facilities”

He said that it was not his job to make effective legislation; however, he said the judiciary can interpret the laws made by the parliament. He urged the lawmakers to bring amendments in the laws for bringing the reforms.
