KARACHI:Continuing its efforts to eradicate power theft, K-Electric is taking action against power thieves and defaulters around the city alongside Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs). In its latest drive multiple illegal connections in areas of North Nazimabad have been removed and notices were served to those involved in power theft. KE teams with the support of the LEAs carried out raids in North Nazimabad Block N, Peoples Colony, Block 15/A1 to A4 Buffer Zone and Block S, dismantling illegal power connections and taking action against consumers involved in unpaid electricity dues worth PKR 5.2 Mn.
KE is carrying out a massive crackdown against power theft and defaulters across the city, which is in line with the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act 2016. While defaulters and other consumers can reach the nearest Customer Care Center for regularization of their connections. Defaulters and power thieves could face prosecution that can lead to a penalty as high as PKR 6 Mn and imprisonment of up to 7 years.
