KU observes Youm-ul-Jamia, alumni

KARACHI: A Youm e Jamia (university day) was cerebrated at the Karachi University.

A procession comprised of Vice Chancellor, former VCs, members of Syndicate and Senate, student, teachers and Huffaz e Karam entered from the silver jubilee gate on the occasion, reciting the Holy Quran and marched to the administration block.

University of Karachi and Unikarians organized the procession at the campus to relive the historical inauguration of the largest public sector university in 1960. Several alumni associations including Unikarians, and others also participated in the event.

Expressing his views on the occasion of Youm-e-Jamia (University Day) organized by University of Karachi and Unikarians, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Ajmal Khan, Vice Chancellor KU said that KU successfully introduced online system of admissions for the first time this year which admissions were granted to the students purely on merit.

KU is country’s biggest varsity, its ranking is gradually improving, and we all must play our role for its development. Nations that invest in the fields of education, science and technology are now getting developed and witnessing eradicated poverty to a greater extent.

University of Karachi and Unikarians organized the procession at the campus to relive the historical inauguration of the largest public sector university. Several alumni associations including Unikarians, and others also participated in the event.

The VC welcomed the new entrants of KU and added that they have to play their role in the development of the varsity.

“KU teachers are working tirelessly despite limited resources which is indeed commendable, we will make University of Karachi, one of the best varsities of the world”, Dr. Khan added.

KU Former Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zafar Saeed Saifi cherished his old days at KU, “whenever I enter KU, I feel like a 17 years old student, we need such dedication for country’s development”, he added.

President, Unikarians Prof Aijaz Ahmed Farooqi addressing on the occasion announced to build a new building of KU’s chemistry department and said that KU Old Boys Association and Unikarians have intentions of having such projects in future too.

“All those people who are successful today in their professional lives due to the university, must now play their positive role in varsity’s uplift”, he maintained.

President Pakistan Arts Council Ahmed Shah while remembering his students’ life days of him at KU and said we must make the KU again a center of peace and harmony.

President KUTS, Professor Dr. Jamil Hasan Kazmi while delivering the vote of thanks, thanked the participants for making this event, a great success. He also said that we will together strive for the KU’s development. “We must encourage such events which highlight the soft image of the varsity, I have not seen such a magnificent Youm-e-Jamia event before”, Dr. Kazmi added.
