Mayor calls for irregularities correction in petrol quota

KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar on Tuesday asked his sub-ordinates to correct all irregularities in the issuance of petrol quota of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) vehicles and to prepare a complete database.

In a statement issued here, millions of rupees could be saved in the cost of rising expenditure on petrol and diesel. “Out of order vehicle and generators will not be issued petrol quota and only the physically verified vehicles and generators which are in used in different departments will be provided with fuel. The officers and heads of different departments have to correct their ways as the KMC wasalready facing deficit of funds and no one will be allowed to utilize government resources unnecessarily, said mayor.

Meanwhile on the directive of the Mayor, the committee for verification of vehicles begun in which all services vehicles and generators used in various KMC departments would be verified.

On the first day, 15 out of 17 services vehicles of city warden department were verified whereas two vehicles were being repaired in the workshop.

The second phase of verification of vehicles and generators would be carried out from 17th to 30th October 2017 during which all vehicles and generators used in the Municipal Services, including Parks and Horticulture, Medical and Health Services, Works and Services, Land Anti Encroachments, CS&R, Store and Procurement, Printing Press, City Warden and Veterinary Services department will be verified physically at the office of the Vehicle department of KMC at KMC Sports Complex, Kashmir Road.
