KARACHI: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar said on Tuesday that union councils have been given Rs2.5 million for development works and they were ready to provide even 250 million rupees once they have it.

Construction of 5-B road in Baldia Town No.7 was an old demand of the people of the area, play grounds and parks will also be developed in the area along with solving the water scarcity problems in Baldia Town.

He said this while talking to media representatives on inspecting the newly constructed 1.25km long road and during the visit of the space for the playground and parks along with the MPA Kamran Akhtar, Parliamentary leader in city council Aslam Shah Afridi, UC-31 Chairman Aman Khan Afridi, Chairman of Works and Parks Committee and other officers.

Mayor Karachi said this road has been constructed with a cost of Rs20 millions and hoped that this would solve an old problem of the residents of Baldia Town who were facing acute trouble. He said construction of roads, parks and playgrounds was on priority and the elected representatives were busy in planning such works and completing it in least possible time.

He thanked the Chief Minister Sindh for approving the Safari/Theme Park Scheme in Karachi and expressed hope that this project would be completed soon and citizens of Karachi would avail a well standard recreation facility in their city.

Mayor Karachi said the union council chairmen and the elected representatives of the area were taken on board for development activities and all these works are being done to provide better facilities to people.
