Karachi: Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar has said that High Court’s stay order in favor of KMC against the K-Electric is a commendable and it would save the citizens from sufferings at public places.
K-Electric owes billions of rupees to KMC and now after this decision K-Electric will not be able to disconnect the supply of electricity to any park, building or office of KMC, he said in a statement.
He recalled that K-Electric had recently disconnected the electric supply to KMC buildings including Safari Park, Karachi Zoo, Frere Hall and Sports Complex for nonpayment of dues and in past it also disconnected the electric supply to hospitals and other offices although it has to pay billions of rupees to the KMC.
