QUETTA: Medical students have been observing protest in the protest camp set up outside Quetta Press Club for the last 69 days, but the issue of registration with Pakistan Medical Commission (PMC) has not yet been resolved despite lapse of considerable period of time, therefore, it has been decided by the Medical Alliance Committee to observe hunger strike till death in the protest camp set up outside Quetta Press Club.
These views were expressed by Hidayat Majeed, leader of Medical Alliance Committee while addressing a press conference with others at Quetta Press Club here on Friday. He said that the whole province and provincial health department had become helpless in front of one notification of Pakistan Medical Commission, adding that medical students had been on protest for the last 69 days, but their grievances had not yet been redressed, therefore, he added that Medical Alliance Committee had decided to turn protest camp of medical students set up outside Quetta Press Club into hunger strike till death camp to get the grievances of the medical students redressed.
He said that five students namely Zahid Baloch, Sajid Akbar, Sami Baloch, Faris Bughti and Adnan Taj would start observing hunger strike till death which would continue till the authorities acceded to the demands of medical students. He said that if anything happened to the protesting medical students, the provincial government would be held responsible.
