Meeting discusses demands for new water connections

Karachi: Caretaker Sindh Chief Minister Fazalur Rehman on Thursday held a joint meeting with Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) and Local Government Department, KWSB and SBCA here at the CM House.

The ABAD representatives told the acting chief minister that their more 400 NOC application for different projects had been pending with the KWSB for last many months.

However, KWSB MD Khalid Shaikh said that when water was not available in the system, how they could issue NOCs for new water connections. He added that the KWSB would start issuing NOCs when K-IV, a bulk water project, would be completed.

He also quoted a Supreme Court decision under which he could not issue NOCs until and unless more water is provided to Karachi. On this the acting chief minister directed the MD to get the court decision interpreted.

He also constituted a four-member committee, two from ABAD and one member each from KWSB and SBCA, to sit together and settle the issue and report back to him.
