ISLAMABAD: Minister for Industries and Production Makhdum Khusro Bakhtyar and World Bank Country Director Najy Benhassine met here on Tuesday.
They discussed the priority areas for engagement to strengthen the partnership with World Bank in Pakistan. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister appreciated the support of World Bank in COVID response and health sector.
Apprising the World Bank Country Director of the key features of Pakistan’s new industrial policy in pipeline, he stressed that World Bank may provide expert advice on formulation of framework of policy. He said the new industrial policy would focus on enhancement of local production, exports bandwidth, and import substitution to step up the industrialization in Pakistan.
The World Bank Country Director thanked the Minister for expediting implementation of WB-funded projects in Pakistan. He also assured that the Bank would consider Pakistan’s recommendations to strengthen its portfolio in Pakistan and assistance to formulate industrial policy.
