GILGIT: A minor boy died after falling into a canal in Nomal area of Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday.
According to sources, a two-year-old child, Shahzada Syed Hassan, drowned into the canal. The locals took out him from the water after few minutes. He was rushed to a government hospital in Nomal area where no emergency service was available.
The desperate parents took the child to a nearby Aga Khan Health Centre at Chelmish, which also lacked the oxygen. Staff at the hospital tried with a manual pump to push air into the child, but he died battling the exhaustion.
The death prompted strong anger among the locals and the parents, who said that the Gilgit-Baltistan chief minister always claimed to provide health facilities across the G-B but on the grounds, things were terrible and hospitals ran out of basic facilities.
The locals demanded of the GB administration to facilitate the hospital with required equipments.
