Monument to pay tribute to Edhi opens today


KARACHI: To pay tribute to world renowned social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi, representative body of residents of Karachi Administration Employees Cooperative Housing Society (KAECHS) has built a monument with name of “Edhi Square.”

This monument will be inaugurated today (Sunday) by Faisal Edhi in the evening.

Chairman Karachi Admin Association Khalid Noor and Vice Chairman Kashif Shaikh told PPI that KAECH Society houses more than 5,000 homes and its residents decided to build this monument to honor the services of social work legend Abdul Sattar Edhi.

In this regard, a meeting of association was also held attended by its Chairman, Vice Chairman, members Faizan Taqi, Saad Akhtar Chawla, Saad Zafar and others.

It was told that construction work started about two months back. This monument is builtat the roundabout linking blocks 1, 2 and 3 of society.

“We have arranged four beacons and put portraits of Abdul Sattar Edhi in all four sides. This square is illuminated with colorful lights,” Khalid Noor told.

Services of Abdul Sattar Edhi will be remembered forever and no one can compensate his loss. People should attend this opening ceremony and pay homage to national hero, he requested.
