LARKANA: The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Larkana Range, Abdullah Shaikh, has said that serious terrorist threats have been received to police in three districts of Larkana division i-e Kambar-Shahdadkot, Jacobabad and Kashmore where it has been decided to deploy army along Sindh-Balochistan border where security has also been intensified.
He said that army would also be standby in other districts of the division. He said 68 police pickets had been established along Sindh-Balochistan border where 688 policemen had been posted. Giving briefing to the journalists at Larkana press club about security arrangement made during Muharram here on Sunday, DIGP said that 14704 policemen had been appointed in entire Larkana division to provide maximum security to the mourners. The 1550 army men and 200 rangers personnel will also perform their duties.
He said 3300 cops in Larkana district, 2637 in Kambar-Shahdadkot, 2442 in Jacobabad, 3824 in Shikarpur and 2401 in Kashmore would discharge their duties during Muharram days. He further said 300 each army and rangers personnel would perform duties in Larkana, 50 army and 200 rangers will be deployed in Kambar-Shahdadkot, 600 each of army & rangers will be on duty in Jacobabad, 600 army men will be standby in Shikarpur and 300 army jawans will be posted in Kashmore. Abdullah Shaikh said that 1370 Majalis will be held in the entire division, out of which 181 will be in Larkana district, 201 in Kambar-Shahdadkot, 212 in Jacobabad, 566 in Shikarpur, and 210 in Kashmore.
DIGP said that 103 Majalis will be in A category, 353 in B category and 914 in C category. Shaikh said that 408 processions will be taken out in the division, out of which 181 will be in Larkana district, 72 in Kambar-Shahdadkot, 40 Jacobabad, 87 in Shikarpur, and 28 in Kashmore.
He said that 93 processions had been kept in A category, 177 in B category and 443 in C category. He further revealed that 161 Ulema and Zakirs had been banned from going outside Larkana district. He said that they were trying their best to pass the 10 days of Muharram in peace and tranquility for which security had been tightened everywhere and all entry & exit points were being vigorously checked. He said 4 persons had been arrested during first four days of Muharram who are suspected of being dangerous criminals.
DIGP Shaikh claimed that during combing operation in the division as many as 3051 operations had been carried out from January to September 23, 2017, as 367 encounters had also taken place in which 54 gangs were busted. He further claimed that kidnapping ratio in the division was zero. He said that eight criminals were recommended to be included in schedule 4 and after detailed investigations it had further been recommended to the IGP to keep 98 more hardened criminals of the division in schedule 4 which include facilitators of terrorists and banned outfits. Larkana SSP Sajid Amir Sadozai, SSP Jacobabad Sarfraz Nawaz Shaikh, SSP Kashmore Bashir Brohi and others were also present.
