KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Karachi on Tuesday arrested Sindh Information Department’s Deputy Director Yousuf Kaboro from Islamabad and one other accused in mega corruption reference.
The NAB took action in Islamabad and succeeded to arrest Kabro and an accused owner of advertising agency, Inam Akbar. A NAB reference had been filed against 17 accused, including main accused, former information minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
The NAB had arrested 12 accused on 23 October 2017 after their bails were rejected. One accused Anita Baloch is still absconding. Kaboro, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, provincial information secretary Zulfiqar Ali Shalwani, deputy directors Anita Baloch and Mansoor Ahmed Rajput had been booked for allegedly committing corruption to the tune of Rs5 billion in awarding government advertisements to the media houses.
Karachi’s Accountability Court-IV had issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of Kaboro and other accused.
