NIRC rejects sacking of 22 USC employees

SUKKUR:National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) Karachi on Thursday dismissed an order sacking 22 employees of Utility Stores Corporation (USC) Sukkur some days back.

The counsel of the dismissed employees, Adil, had challenged the sacking of the 22 employees, at National Industrial Relation Commission Karachi.

The counsel appealed to the commission that Zonal Manager Mohammad Imran had sacked 22 assistant store keepers working in different districts of Sukkur region, sending a severe blow to price-stricken poor employees.

Soon after the sacking, the USC employees had closed the offices in Sukkur and held a protest demonstration outside the warehouse, suspending supply of food and other essential items of daily use to the stores.

The employees claimed that the court had issued a stay order for their jobs on January 22, 2020 but the regional manager violated it by sacking 22 employees, which was the contempt of the court.

They said that it was a cruel act to sack employees at a time when whole country was reeling from skyrocketing price hike and unemployment.
