Online system can help curb corruption: moot told

KARACHI:Sindh Minister for Information Science and Technology, Nawabzada Muhammad Taimur Talpur has said that on the directives of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardar, E-Governance is being introduced for official work to replace paper work with online system which will help us to curb mismanagement and corruption from government departments.

“Besides, constitution of a Information Technology Board is under way in which President MA Jinnah University, Prof Dr. Zubair Shaikh and other scholars and IT professional will be included,” he stated while addressing as chief guest at the closing session of three-day international conference on Data Science. The conference was organized by Computer Science and Engineering Faculty, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi (MAJU) at its auditorium.

MAJU President Prof Dr Zubair Shaikh also addressed the closing session of the conference. Addressing the conference, Talpur said that on this occasion, he would like to stress upon the vision of the late Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari that was fundamental to the growth of private sector universities.

He said: “It is our responsibility to give credit to our scholars and scientists who have inhabited this Alma Mater and made it center of excellence.” He said that he was very impressed by the way President MAJU had presented about the contribution which Mohammad Ali Jinnah University was making for the society at large and for province of Sindh.

The minister emphasized that they needed Dr Zubair Shaikh and his team’s help to revolutionize the province. He stated: “As IT minister, E-Governance is our priority, as we want and already doing many reforms by bringing IT to education, health, public sector, security and other areas.”

Earlier addressing the closing session of the Data Base conference, MAJU President said that it was a matter of great satisfaction for them that Sindh government was making every effort for the development of Information Technology, economic development and poverty alleviation. He said that research work on rural development conducted in universities had also been appreciated by UNO.

He said that Data Science education has now become a most important factor which works for storage of huge data related to all departments for analysis and research work. He assured all possible cooperation to the Ministry of Information Science and Technology for the development of information technology on behalf of MAJU. Conference coordinator Dr Tarsier Ahmed thanked the guests and participants for making the conference successful.
