KARACHI: The construction of Pakistan’s first state-of-the-art 600-bedded Surgical Complex at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) is under way with fast pace and its OPD services are likely to begin from April 15, 2018.
Head of Radiology Department, JPMC, Prof Dr Tariq Mehmood, while talking to PPI, said the general and orthopaedic surgical OPDs facilities for patients would be begun from mid of April after the completion of finishing work on lower floors of the multi-stories surgical building.
He informed that 600-bedded facility would be fully opened for public in the end 2018.
He informed that 2,000 to 2,500 patients are expected to get consultation facilities every day once OPD services start.
The Surgical Complex has equipped with 600 beds, emergency facilities; operation theatres, doctor clinics, doctors & staff duty rooms, seminar/ multi-purpose rooms and lecture hall.
He said 28-bed ICU and other advanced facilities would be provided to patients under one roof in the Surgical Complex.
He said people throughout the country will get the advanced surgical facilities here in near future. He said the construction work of state-of-the-art Surgical Complex is under way under public private-partnership.
He said Sindh health department has also assured provision of diagnostic equipment and other assistance for swift completion of project.
He said capacity of beds in JPMC would be increased from 1400 to 2,000 after the completion of surgical complex. He informed that Surgical Complex is Pakistan’s first of its kind project where general and orthopaedic surgery facilities will be available in a government sector hospital.
