ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, 2 in 5 Pakistanis (42%) opine that tolerance among people in Pakistan is decreasing.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “The main purpose of celebrating the Global Day for Tolerance is to spread tolerance among people.
Do you think tolerance level among people in Pakistan has increased, decreased or there is no difference?” In response to this question, 42% said that tolerance levels have decreased, 25% said that they have increased and 32% said that there is no difference. 1% did not respond.
Question:
“The main purpose of celebrating the Global Day for Tolerance is to spread tolerance among people. Do you think tolerance level among people in Pakistan has increased, decreased or there is no difference?”
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.
The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1829 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, November 19- November 25, 2017. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
