KARACHI: Operation Theater at Sindh Government Lyari General Hospital Karachi has not been functioning for last three days, compelling the administration to postpone schedule surgeries.
Sources at Lyari General Hospital told PPI that OT services were suspend three days ago due to unavailability of water. The water pumping motor was out of order and the hospital administration was unable to get it repaired. The shortage of water supply compelled the management to postpone both emergency and scheduled surgeries.
Women, children and elderly paints requiring urgent surgeries are being sent to other hospitals, as the hospital administration has failed to make alternate arrangements of water supply to resume OT services.
Medical Superintendent, Lyari General Hospital, Dr Mohammad Aslam Pechuho, while talking to PPI, said the OT services were suspended in the healthcare facility for a couple days due to unavailability of water as water pump motor had developed fault owing to short-circuit.
He said installation of two new water pumping motors are under way and the situation would be improve in a day. He further informed that all gynecological, obstetrical and emergency labour services are fully functional while only elective operation theatre services were suspended.
