Over 100 posts lying vacant at Liaquatabad Hospital

KARACHI: More than 100 posts are lying vacant at 200 bedded Sindh Government Liaquatabad Hospital. The hospital urgently needs consultants to improve patient care.

The hospital has been facing acute shortage of staff, including consultants, general doctors, paramedical and other staff, since several years. The shortage of employees has badly affected the smooth functioning of this hospital.

Currently, about 40 posts of doctors and 60 others, including OT technician, ICU technician, CT Scan technician, anesthesia attendant, AYA/DAI, cook, ward master and darkroom attendant are lying vacant.

The hospital management urgently needs pathologists, surgeons, physicians, neonatologists, anesthetists, ENT specialists, orthopedic surgeons, chest specialists and radiologists to cater the patients. Upto 2,000 patients visit OPDs on daily basis and the number is increasing with the passage of time.

The post of additional medical superintendent, chief medical superintendent officer, chief medical officer, chief women medical officer, medical superintendent (trauma), assistant police surgeon, chief nursing superintendent, deputy medical superintendent, senior medical officer and women medical officer, senior residents medical officer and medical legal officers are lying vacant.

Medical Superintendent, Sindh Government Liaquatabad Hospital, Dr Khadim Qureshi, while talking to PPI, said the hospital needed consultants to improve patients care. He said that a request had been sent to Sindh health department to fill vacant posts and provide consultants for improvement in health delivery standards.
