Pan, gutka, cigarette banned in educational institutions

KARACHI: Sindh government on Thursday imposed a ban on the use of cigarette, pan, gutka and other substandard chewable items in all educational institutions.

A notification issued in this regard said: “College education department has pleased to impose a complete ban on the use of cigarette, pan, gutka and other narcotics in all government and private educational institutions all over the Sindh province.”

Earlier, Justice Helpline, a non-governmental organization requested the provincial government to impose such ban in educational institutions. After the notification, Advocate Nadeem Shaikh, the Justice Helpline President, thanked the Sindh government and hoped that the ban will be implemented in letter and spirit.
